Subject: Leglamp controversy in Illinois

Hey there,
I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoy our leglamp as do our friends who have bought them. One of our friends who lives in Downer's Grove, a suburb of Chicago, lives on a main strret with alot of traffic. He said that people will stop by and knock on his door to tell him how much they enjoy the lamp, where can they buy one, etc. One person said they make a special trip down that street to see it. However, he recently received a letter from the village of, I can't remember if it was from Lisle (another nearby suburb) or Downers Grove, stating their outrage at the lamp. I believe it was Lisle.

It seems that some people who live in Lisle, IL have to drive past his house on their way to and from work. They got so "offended" at the sight of the lamp that they contacted their city officials. It seems that they want the village of Downers Grove to look into their "obscenity laws" and see if they can force him to take his leglamp out of the window!!! Do you believe that? In this day and age!! (Hey people--turn on the TV, a leglamp is very benign.)

I guess some people just can't handle the warm glow of electric sex in the window.....
Just thought you might find it amusing. I sure did!!!

Comment: I just wanted to let you guys know that the lamp is awesome!! We got it for my dad for christmas this year because that's his favorite movie of all time. As soon as he saw the crate, he yelled "get me a crow bar! There could be anything in there!" and then proceeded to throw the straw all over the living room. It is now standing proudly in the middle of their living room picture window!! It will be one of my best christmas memories for years to come.

I just got back from my brother's house and your lamp was the christmas gift of Christmas gifts. He had no idea and when he pronounced fra-gil-lie I thought I would die. He immediately displayed this masterpiece of americana proudly in his front window and, well, I felt like I was on Cleveland Street. It was the best Christmas gift ever!!!!! Hi,
Just wanted to tell you that we got our "the Lamp" in plenty of time for Christmas. I can not wait to give this to my dad for Christmas. I'm more excited than I think he will be. "The Christmas Story" is one of my families favorite Christmas show. My father watches it a couple for times each season, It is a family favorite. My brother passed away 4 years ago this Christmas eve, this is the first year since then that I am enjoying Christmas. My father for who this gift is for had a kidney removed this fall and is recovering nicely. But with the help of this WONDERFUL gift my whole family will have the best Christmas that we have had in years. I can't wait to see his face. I'm sure my father will laugh and cry this Christmas. Comments: Our father's favorite movie is "A Christmas Story." When we saw that Maryland Ensemble Theater in Frederick, MD was putting on the play we knew had to see it. Unfortunately, my father was sick that day and was not able to go. Fortunately, they raffled off the leg lamp and we won. I have it my front window right now, but I can't wait until Christmas morning when we give it my father in a box marked fra-geel-ay. The lamp came with a certificate of authenticity and a business card from One Leg Up. I can't believe we won a Major Award!!!

I watched it 4 times in a row on Christmas and wish I had enough money to buy one for my dad because he loves the movie too. It was a BIG hit. Thanks for not going cheap on me. The box was so light I was worried it might be some kind of cheap knock-off, but it was not. It was correct in every respect, right down to the light inside the leg.

My wife thought SHE was making the joke when she spotted the "Fragile" and immediately pronounced: "Fra- gee- lay - it must be italian!". Everyone laughed - and then she opened the box. Her teeth about fell out and the whole place roared.
